Are you curious? What is that in the SKY? Why are there so many stars?
Why do birds fly? And why, WHY is there a universe?
I asked many people and they help me to write this together.
Do you know there are lots of unedited information in this writing, do you know why? I do not know why there is a universe? I do not know if any one can actually know………. It is imperfect information. So, if you want to know the imperfect answer to this question, read on. I told you now, you will make up your own mind about the answer after you read everything.
Special thanks to all the friends, Dr. Fabienne Baider, All the mensans friends and my family to allow me to write this.
The question “WHY IS THERE a universe?” calls to mind a cluster of answers derived
not from any human intelligence, but found in the Bible. However, before answering
the question of WHY, the Bible lays the groundwork by immediately answering the
questions:
1) WHEN? Answer: “In the beginning…….”
2) WHO? Answer: “…. GOD created the heavens and the earth.”
3) What was God’s evaluation of his handiwork? Answer: “And God saw everything
that he had made, and behold it was VERY GOOD.”
A number of varied answers to the question “: WHY IS THERE a universe?” surface in
the book of Psalms:
1) Psalm 119: 1-3: “The heavens DECLARE the GLORY of GOD; and the expanse
SHEWETH the WORK of HIS HANDS. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night
sheweth knowledge. There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is
heard.”
2) “Why is there a universe?” is related to the question: “WHOSE is the
universe?” which is answered in Psalm 50: 7..11: “I am God. ….every beast of the
forest is MINE, the cattle upon a thousand hills; I know all the fowl of the
mountains, and the roaming creature of the field are MINE.”
3) Psalm 104: 24, 31: “How manifold are thy works, O lord! In wisdom hats thou
made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. …. The glory of the Lord will endure
forever; the Lord will REJOICE in HIS WORKS.”
Both Genesis and Psalms speak of the particular position it has pleased God to
assign to MAN in his creation:
1) Genesis 1:26: “and God said, Let us make MAN in our image, after our
likeness; and let them have DOMINION over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of
the heavens, and over the cattle, and over the whole earth, and over every creeping
thing that creepeth on the earth. And God created man in his image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them.”
2) Psalm 8: 4-6: “When I see thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and
stars, which thou hast established; what is man, that thou are mindful of him? And
the son of man, that thou visiteth him? Thou hast made him some little lower than
the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour. Thou hast made him to
rule over the works of thy hands; thou hast put everything under his feet.”
3) Psalm 115; 16: “The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth has
he given to the children of men.”
The Psalms return to the theme of the SUPREMACY of the Creator over his created
universe:
1) Psalm 119:89-91: “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in the heavens. Thy
faithfulness is from generation to generation: thou hast established the earth, and
it standeth. By thine ordinances they stand this day; FOR ALL THINGS ARE THY
SERVANTS.”
And the Psalms pursue the theme of the LOVING-KINDNESS of the Creator:
1) Psalm 136: 1…9: “Give ye thanks unto the Lord for he is GOOD; for his
LOVING-KINDNESS [endureth] for ever. … To him who alone doeth great wonders, for his
loving kindness [endureth] for ever: to him that by understanding made the heavens,
for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever; to him that stretched out the earth
above the waters, for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever; to him that made
great lights, for his loving-kindness endureth] for ever. The sun for rule over the
day, for his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever, the moon and stars for rule over
the night, for his loving kindness [endureth] forever.”
The inevitable outcome is PRAISE to the CREATOR from his CREATION:
1) Psalm 145: 9-10: “The Lord is good to all; and his TENDER MERCIES are over ALL
HIS WORKS. All thy works SHALL PRAISE thee, O Lord.”
2) Psalm 148: 1-5: “…. Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in
the heights. … Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars of
light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that are above
the heavens. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he it is that
commanded, and they were created.”
Answers become more explicit in the New Testament:
1) John 1:1-18: “In [the] beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things received being
through him, and without him not one [thing] received being which has received
being. In him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light appears in
darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not. …. He was in the world, and the world
had [its] being through him, and the world knew him not. …. And the Word became
flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an
only-begotten from with a father), full of grace and truth. …. Grace and truth
subsists through JESUS CHRIST. No one has seen God at any time; the only-begotten
Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared [him].
2) Ephesians elaborates 1: 9-10: “…. According to his good pleasure…[God]
PURPOSED in himself for [the] administration of the fullness of times: to HEAD UP
ALL THINGS IN CHRIST, the things in the heavens and the things upon the earth “ and
1:18-21: “… he wrought in the Christ, raising him from among the dead, and he set
him down at his right hand in the heavenlies, above every principality, and
authority, and power, and dominion, and every name named, not only in this age, but
also in that to come; and has put all things under his feet.”
3) Philippians 2:6-11: “Christ Jesus, … subsisting in the form of God, did not
esteem it an object of rapine to be on an equality with God; but emptied himself,
taking a bondman’s form, taking his place in the likeness of men; and having been
found in figure as a man, humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, and
{that the] death of [the] cross. Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and granted
him a name, that is above every name, that AT THE NAME of JESUS, EVEYR KNEE SHOULD
BOW, of heavenly and earthly and infernal [beings], AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS that
JESUS CHRIST [is] LORD to God [the Father’s glory.”
3) Colossians 1:12…16: gives the ultimate answer to “WHY IS THERE a universe?”:
Answer: “the Son of [the Father’s] love…. Is the image of the invisible God,
firstborn of all creation; because BY HIM were created all things, the things in the
heavens and the things upon the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether
thrones, or lordships, or principalities, or authorities: ALL THINGS have been
CREATED BY HIM and FOR HIM. . And he is before all, and all things subsist together
by him.”
4) Hebrews 1:1-12: “God…. Has spoken to us in [the person of the] Son, whom he
has established heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. ….. Thou in the
beginning, Lord, hast founded the earth, and works of thy hands are the heavens.
They shall perish, but thou continuest still; and they shall grow old as a garment,
and as a covering shalt thou roll them up, and they shall be changed; but THOU ART
THE SAME, and thy years shall not fail.”
5) Meanwhile, in the present interim, Hebrews returns to the theme found
earlier in the Psalms: Hebrews 2: 6-9: “What is man, that thou rememberest him, or
son of man that thou visiteth him? Thou hast made him some little inferior to the
angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, [and hast set him over the
works of thy hands;] thou hast subjected all things under his feet. For in
subjecting all things to him, he has left nothing unsubject to him. But now we see
not yet all things subjected to him, but we see Jesus, who was made some little
inferior to the angels on account of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and
honour, so that by the grace of God he should taste death for everything.”
6) Hebrews comments on the means by which human beings may come to know HOW the
universe was created: 11:3: “BY FAITH we apprehend that the worlds were framed by
the word of God, so that that which is seen should not take its origin from the
things that appear.
7) And FAITH is just as surely critical for a human being to appreciate WHY
THERE IS A UNIVERSE: FOR HIM: the SON of the FATHER’s love.
Gretchen Lebrun
WHY??????????
why there is a universe. If my dad were still alive he'd probably say,
"To make people ask questions." Well, maybe I can be a little more
philosophical. It's no problem actually: I have it all solved. It
hinges on whether the universe was accidental or created. I don't think
the universe was accidental. A spontaneous universe would be more
random and it could be expected to be either totally determinant, (i.e.
no "uncertainty principle), or totally indeterminant, (no causality).
Similalry, other values of cosmological constants seem to mesh with one
another in a very precise manner. It has design in it. It is
beautiful. I think it's too beautiful to be an accident.
